Tracking customer behavior across multiple channels

Two ads. Two shows. One Brand. While traveling home this week I was skimming a Delta Sky Magazine and noticed two full page ads from Cirque du Soleil. My first thought was that the ads were repetitive. They had different pictures but they were advertising  entertainment from the same brand. With just one page separating the two I thought maybe it was an A/B test for the advertisement.

On closer examination I saw that the two ads followed a template that was constructed to show seven different Cirque du Soleil experiences. The banner strip in the middle of the page had a raised block for the specific show. Each show …Continue reading >>

Software Release Management. It’s more than an IT thing.

This is about IT and Business alignment. I’m fortunate enough to have worked in two different functional areas of a business: IT and Marketing. I can say with 100% confidence that business owners and stakeholders of software releases should be more concerned and involved in the IT release management process. Whereas a traditional High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane is free for vehicles with more than one passenger, the HOT lanes require a toll for single or double occupant vehicles.

The selling proposition to the public is “guaranteed trip times.” By using variable tolls based on …Continue reading >>

Doing it right with customer focus

Doing it right. I love seeing companies that are “doing it right” and reaping the rewards of success. By doing it right, I mean providing value driven products or services customers want and respect. Companies like Chick-fil-A, Disney, and QuickTrip (QT) come to mind. Wait a minute. Isn’t QT a gas station?

This week I read about QT, as an example of a customer focused business.  I live in the metro Atlanta area where QT stations and stores are booming with customers and business.  The description of brightly lit stations that are clean and well-staffed is accurate and to the point. While, the lower prices on gasoline are the hook …Continue reading >>
